Fix Bluetooth Not Working on Windows 11

Dealing with Bluetooth not working on Windows 11 usually presents in two ways: the Bluetooth toggle switch completely vanishes from Quick Settings, or paired headphones connect and instantly disconnect. When Bluetooth is not working on Windows 11, the underlying Bluetooth Support Service has stalled or the generic Microsoft USB radio driver crashed.

Quick diagnosis: If the on/off toggle is completely missing, start at Step 1. If the toggle is present but won't discover accessories, jump to Step 2.

Step-by-step Bluetooth recovery

  1. Step 1 — Set Bluetooth Support Service to Automatic

    Press Win + R, type services.msc, and hit Enter. Locate Bluetooth Support Service. Right-click → Properties. Set Startup type to Automatic. Under Service status, click Start (or Restart) and click OK.

  2. Step 2 — Reinstall the Bluetooth adapter driver

    Open Device Manager (Win + X). Expand the Bluetooth category. Right-click your Bluetooth Adapter (e.g. Intel Wireless Bluetooth) and click Uninstall device. Do not check "attempt to remove the driver". Now click Action → Scan for hardware changes at the top to force a clean driver refresh.

  3. Step 3 — Discharge static flea power (for laptops)

    On laptops with combined Wi-Fi/Bluetooth PCIe cards, residual capacitor charge can freeze the Bluetooth controller firmware. Shut down the laptop, unplug all cables, and hold the physical power button down for 30 seconds before booting back up.
